On 11 September 2023 the privacy dashboard will be presented by Philip Raschke (TUB) at the “Datenschutz Sommerakademie” an annual conference organized by ULD in Kiel, Germany, with an expected broad attendance from staff members of European and German data protection authorities as well as data protection officers from public and private entities. The session will be moderated by Harald Zwingelberg from TRAPEZE project partner ULD.

The TRAPEZE privacy dashboard for consent management through a citizen-centric privacy dashboard allows users to view and edit machine-readable policies for data processing and to provide consent accordingly. The dashboard will be demonstrated and the underlying design considerations explained.

The TRAPEZE Privacy Dashboard shows EU citizens how the controller uses personal data and allows users to give and withdraw their consent. EU citizens can contact the controller’s Data Protection Officer (DPO) and also the Data Protection Authority (DPA) responsible for the controller.

In contrast to existing consent management solutions the TRAPEZE Privacy Dashboard is unique in that it is citizen-facing. It faces EU citizens in the sense that it meets them on eye level and takes them by the hand to explain to them the relevant pieces of information such that they can understand who processes their data for what purposes. User studies show that the design of the user interface makes it easy for EU citizens across a wide demographic spectrum to pick up on the key concepts of data protection (consent, data, purposes) and who to withdraw and give their consent.
